Are You Cut-Out To Own a Home Business?

 by: Becky Gilbert

Now that I have my own home business I realize that I am cut-out to do this kind of work. The shoe fits and I wear it well. But I also realize that some people are just not cut-out to do this kind of work.

I often dreamed of having a business where I could make my own hours, take the day off it I needed to, work in my pajamas, and make the kind of income that would provide me the financial freedom to purchase things that I wanted to, instead of limiting them to things that I needed. My most depressing moments were thoughts of working until I was 70 before I could retire. What quality of life would I have at 70? Would I even live until then? If I did, would my health allow me to enjoy retirement?

When I answered an ad on the Internet that claimed that I could make a six figure income from home, I had no idea whether I would be cut out for this type of business. I didnt even know if the business was legitimate. But I knew if I hid behind my skepticism that I would never find out, and I could be giving up the one opportunity that could help me retire before I was 70.

So I jumped in head first and did all of the things that was suggested. I ran ads on free advertising sites, passed out business cards, got involved in some surf for clicks programs, ran pay per clicks, took out newspaper ads, and have been involved in virtually every kind of low cost and free advertising campaign that was ever thought of. Some of these ideas worked and some didnt, but I didnt let the advertising failures deter me in the least. I simply dropped the campaigns that were not generating any traffic and kept the ones that did. Eventually, I had a business plan that was working for me and that was generating enough traffic to sustain a home business.

I have signed up and trained over 800 people during the last two years and early on I was amazed by the high failure rate. Im less surprised now because I know this is not something that everyone wants to do. Many people today have the mindset that by having an Internet business it pays by the hour, and Im sorry to say that it doesnt.

You will work long hours for months building your website, setting up your advertising campaigns, exchanging links and getting listed with the search engines before you see one cent. Because in order to succeed on the Internet, you have to have traffic, and it takes some time to build it up. But when you do, the money will flow consistently and daily for the rest of your life with very little effort on your part.

Many of the people I have met on the Internet have jumped in full force for a few weeks or a month and then just kind of burnt out. The first few months are always the hardest because if you have never made money on the Internet, its very hard to keep yourself motivated to keep working towards something your not sure is going to pan out. But I assure you it will

Some people are under the impression that it takes a huge investment to start an Internet business. It can if you want to pay for advertising, but if youre willing to wait a few months, you can get started for as little as $20. I built my first website for $20, and spent the next few months doing nothing but exchanging links with other webmasters, submitting my site to directories and writing articles. These three things are huge traffic generators and they are free.

Ive meet people who were close to heart failure at the thought of spending $20 to build a website. In this day and age, I find it really hard to believe that anyone is really that financially strapped. In my most financially strapped times, I know I spent $20 a month on things that I didnt need. You have to keep in mind that this is an investment in your future. It will come back to you many times over.

And the hardest thing that I think that people deal with is the isolation of maintaining a home business. You wont be going to the office and chatting with your co-workers, there is little to no phone conversations, and I have never had any human contact with any of my customers on the Internet. I do however send a lot of emails.

But that is fine with me, and I love it. I love the quiet times working alone. I love the fact that I am not interrupted by the phone every five minutes or by employees and co-workers running in and out of my office. I love the fact that I dont have to commute any farther then to my home office.

So, as you can see there are many perks to owning a home business, and there are things that may not fit with your lifestyle or expectations. The shoe must fit in order for you to succeed.

Are You Driving Your Marketing Like a Stuntman or a Reckless Driver?

 by: Dan Hamilton

Dear Friend,

Ideally, you should drive your marketing like a wise stuntman and not a reckless driver. Prior to executing any daring stunt, a stuntman always studies and evaluates all the different parameters involved and all the possible scenarios with their associated level of risk.

Depending on whether the probabilities of success appear to be high or low, the stunt will be marked as feasible or not feasible -- nobody wants to risk loosing their life stupidly.

Once the stunt has been retained as feasible, the execution will be rehearsed many times. First on paper, then mentally. Over and over, the stuntman will go through the whole event and When he feels ready, he will execute the stunt in front of an audience of astonished people. What appears to be very daring or was even known as impossible to do, has been executed perfectly.

On Thursday May 20, 1999 Robbie Knievel completed such a stunt: a 231 ft leap over a section of the Grand Canyon. It was certainly one of the most daring stunt. All parameters must have been studied and evaluated with the highest precision: location, speed, angle, wind, etc... Success was no coincidence.

Let's not forget such a daring stunt is the result of several weeks, if not months of careful evaluations, precise simulations, and a meticulous preparation based on wise decisions -- somebody's life is on the line after all. What a good example of successful risk-management that is!

It is pretty much the same if you want to run successful marketing campaigns: you need to plan thoroughly, to evaluate carefully. Weeks or months of preparation are likely to be needed in order to be successful.

How is your driving, marketingwise? Do you step on the gas pedal as soon as you get in your marketing vehicle without planning thoroughly? How well do you know your vehicle and all the different options? How well do you know the terrain? How precisely have you studied all the different parameters? How well do you know the scope of your campaign? Do you have what it takes to run a successful marketing campaign?

How well and accurately you can answer these questions will determine your level of success. There are many more questions you should ask yourself before putting your hands on the stirrer and start up the engine.

So everything is checked and you are on a full tank and are absolutely confident you will be able to drive your marketing on the road leading to success. You think you are ready. Finally, it is reality-check time on the marketing battlefield!

But before long, it turns out the road is bumpier than you thought, you see other competitors passing you by and leaving you in the dust. Their marketing vehicles is way more powerful and these guys know how to drive way better than you do. They drive effectively, efficiently, based on their experience of the road and the many challenges they already have overcome many times.

Your vehicle is puffing, comes to a stop. Out of gas. Out of marketing ammunitions, that is. You are stranded in the middle of nowhere. It was supposed to be the ride of your life and you are busted. You think of the term "learning curve" and say: "Ok, what I need to learn I will learn by doing so the more I drive, the better off I will be..." Only true if you are on an unlimited budget -- but who is?

So you're gonna have to take some driving lessons and presto! Don't even think of getting back on the road before improving your driving or you will be toasted pulp for good next time!

Have your vehicle marketing checked by an expert for any missing parts and do learn how to drive that thing! Only there are many instructors that have absolutely no clues whatsoever on how to drive a successful marketing campaign and yet that's another challenge.

If you are tired of visiting smash-repair shops and instead want to learn how to drive your marketing precisely and efficiently to produce outrageous results, why not listen to the most respected marketing instructor in the field: Jay Conrad Levinson -- if you are willing to listen, he is willing to show you how to improve your driving and help you jump over the last remaining difficulties like Robbie Knievel over the Grand Canyon!

Affiliate Program As It Should Be
 by: Pavel Lenshin

Every off- or online business has a target of growing its market share. Under all other equal conditions the percent of the market, occupied by a company, means certain level of recognition, brand, exposure and, therefore, sales and income.

For small business owner a shift from 0.01% internet market share to 0.04% may result in tremendous four times income growth, the problem is in the limits of resources this particular owner has access to. Usually they are weak enough to allow such expansion at their own cost.

Help may come from two massive marketing instruments: - viral marketing; - business partnership based on outsourcing necessary resources.

Today we are going to speak about latter instrument of gaining exposure you deserve.

Business partnership is an agreement between two or more legal entities to cooperate together in order to reach mutually beneficial results. By extrapolating such statement into a framework of gaining market exposure, we can narrow this meaning down by focusing on uniting promotional efforts for reaching mutually beneficial results.

In practice the owner of affiliate program with the aim of gaining extensive market exposure attracts fellow marketers to promote the owner's(s') product(s) for a reward usually in the form of commission from retail price per sale. A commission for popular info products may vary from 5% to 70%.

Promotional materials (like, endorsement letters, reviews and articles) can greatly assist your partners in promoting your product as highly effective pre-selling tools.

The dilemma of joining affiliate programs

The most common mistake beginners do is registering with all possible and impossible affiliate programs they see in hope to promote them all and collect all the money they were promised to get on the page of respective affiliate program owners.

In dominating majority of cases they end up with wasted time and money. The reason is simple, they don't have necessary resource - a database of consumers, subscribers, business partners - people who may be interested in such type of offers. Instead, those newcomers decide to start their online businesses by promoting other people's products, what is extremely hard, because you will build client database and credibility for the company products of which you promote, not for yourself. The only thing you can do is to grow the subscription database, unfortunately, the most valuable asset - loyal clients - won't be accessible in any case.

Some well-known internet millionaires, making fortunes cross-promoting 3rd party products may truly support the idea of "easy income with affiliate programs", but they tend to forget that all their profits were possible due to huge subscriber databases, thousand of affiliates and customers a newcomer does not have!

That is why start wise by creating your own product, grow your credibility, circle of loyal customers and then join and promote as much 3rd party products as you consider necessary.

Setting up partner program

Every partner program you will create or setup should have, at least, basic must-have features:

  1. Database driven registration of affiliates.

  2. Tracking affiliate sales in order to count commission.

  3. Admin control panel to support affiliates and track their sales.

There are 3 basic methods of having fully functional partner programs application, not going far into science, they are "do it yourself", "setup 3rd party application", "use 3rd party service".

The first method is for those, who are knowledgeable programmers and fortunate enough to invest a lot of time in creating such a solution for personal needs or those, who are lucky to have a lot of money and hire those knowledgeable programmers. Responsibility for taking under control all support and function-related issues would lie on your shoulders.

Setting up 3rd party affiliate program solution requires much less time or money, if any. The result will be the same as above - fully functional partner program and inevitable support problems. The only difference is that you won't be able to develop that partner application the way you need and like.

The main advantage of 3rd party service is the ability to stay unaware of how your partners sign up, track sales, receive checks and so forth, because in this case servicing your partners or affiliates will be the headache of independent company, not yours. For such "reluctance" 3rd party affiliate program provider would charge you on monthly or per sale basis, slightly decreasing your net profit at each sale.

Having your own affiliate program in place enables you to expand your market boundaries exponentially.
